We're Tasting
This cup overflows with a brilliant, structured elegance.
Watermelon, tamarind, and strawberry give the sweetness a candy-like quality. Juicy, soft acidities are reminiscent of lime and lemon. A beautifully coating mouthfeel provides exceptional clarity, with a pleasant lingering. Delicate florals underscore the whole experience, making the cup shimmer on the palate like no other.
This is truly an exceptional coffee, one that you'll be excited each night to wake up and brew.
About
This is an outstanding example of the potential of the pink bourbon variety. Originally thought to be a natural mutation of red bourbon, it turns out pink bourbon is actually an Ethiopian landrace variety recently transplanted in Huila. The seeds planted at Finca Alcatraz come directly from the grower in nearby Palestina, Huila that was said to have discovered this variety.
With loads of native trees and hillside forest cover, this fruit is slow to both mature and dry, making for some wildly complex cups.
Price paid by LULO to the Ule-Vargas family: $25usd/kg.
