We're Tasting
Oh my, what a treat this coffee is. Hyper clean, yet with an almost candy-like level of sweetness. A highly refined and expressive cup from start to finish.
Expect fruit reminiscent of lychee and raspberry. Sweet, sticky florals that bring elderflower to mind. A pronounced and inviting grapefruit acidity that becomes more prominent as the cup cools, providing a juicy mouthfeel. So complex and so delicious.
About
This is one of the first harvests of Chiroso from Finca Alcatraz, and our very first time roasting the variety. Chiroso first came to prominence in Urrao, Antioquia, Colombia roughly six or seven years ago, solidifying its position as a rare, sought-after variety when it won the Cup of Excellence in 2020. It's been found to have solely Ethiopian genetics and exhibits a unique cup profile similar to that of Gesha - floral, sweet, and tea-like.
Price paid by LULO to the Ule-Vargas family: $25usd/kg.
